| Digital Photo and Imaging 2 - Making a custom shape | |
In response to a learner's request, the next two tasks are centred around the necessity to create a and apply a 'watermark' to a batch of photos, which is something you might want to do if you have undertaken a commercial commission and you want to submit proof prints prior to the customer ordering final prints. This short task involves creating a custom watermark or logo as an artwork and then turning it into a Custom Shape within Photoshop. You will use type, Photoshop's own Custom Shape tool and the Paths option. |
|
Step 1 - Create a new image ![]() |
Give it a name as well: i.e. 'My Watermark' |
Step 2 - Add Type to the image ![]() |
Make sure the colours are set to default (black and white) then type a suitable line. I've used 'Pete's Photography' but the word copyright could be used. Us the Move tool to place the type bottom centre of the image. Finally right click on the Type layer and choose 'Rasterize Layer' |
Step 3 - Add a symbol ![]() |
If you need to select and move the copyright symbol, use the rectangular Marquee selection tool, then the Move tool. |
Step 4 - Make a Work Path ![]() |
|
| You don't have to save or print this image as its main purpose is to be used in the next task - making a watermark. | |
